Susan McKenna Grant Tuscan Cutting Board

Product Description

In the heart of Tuscany's Chianti region, on top of a mountain, is La Petraia, the 163-acre domain of chef and author Susan McKenna Grant and her husband Michael. She has restored this ancient farm to its former glory. It has become a destination for those seeking to master the art of Tuscan cooking. It is also here that Grant wrote a superb book on authentic Tuscan farm cuisine, "Piano, Piano, Pieno." This profusely illustrated 435-page book won the World Food Media Award in 2007, given by Le Cordon Bleu.
This cutting board pays homage to Susan McKenna Grant's achievements as chef, author, and dedicated steward of her adopted Tuscan heritage. It is made for dual use as a cutting board and server, which is why it has handles at each end and is supported by longer maple legs with felt pads. The clearance of about 1.6 inches (4 cm) between the bottom of the cutting board and the table surface allows the edge of a typical dinner plate to be tucked under the cutting board when serving from it. This piece is made of kiln-dried American walnut and eastern rock maple. It is decorated with thick, solid Gabon ebony inlays on the handles and the sides.
