Georges Auguste Escoffier Cutting Board of Tiger Maple and Walnut

Product Description

This large cutting board pays hommage to Georges Auguste Escoffier (1846-1935), widely regarded as the pre-eminent master of modern French cusine. Escoffier was called the "Emperor of Chefs" by Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1913. He presided over the kitchens of such legendary venues as Monte Carlo's Grand Hotel, Lucerne's Hotel National, London's Savoy and Carlton, and the Ritz in Paris. Awarded Officer of the Legion d' Honneur, Escoffier transformed the highly complicated haute cusine of the 19th century into a more widely understood and accessible style. He established the foundation on which French cuisine has developed in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Made of highly figured tiger maple and walnut, this handmade cutting board measures 24" long, 17.25" wide and 1.75" thick. Both ends of the cutting board have handle cutouts that allow for easy carrying to use as a server at the dinner table. Twenty inlays of solid Gabon ebony decorate the sides and edges of this cutting board. Dimensions may vary slightly to take advantge of wood qualities.
